Bingo News: Aug 6, 2010
After the online gambling laws changed in the United States in 2006, PayPal, at that point acquired by EBay, pulled out of the online gambling and the adult industry in a hurry, issuing statements on how they were no longer able to process this type of “high risk” transactions, leaving many gamblers as well as gambling sites operators out in the cold.
Since then PayPal has branched out into Europe, and even set up a European entity, to perform its function as an e-wallet.
Now 4 years later, since the infamous US laws were passed, changes are coming, and the buzz of that news already made it to the Internet for months now. Due to the effects of the last economical depression, the US is hurting, and are seeking for ways to fill their budgetary gaps. Needless to say that, online gambling suddenly does not look so “evil” anymore, and many US politicians would love to get their paws on a slice of the online gambling tax pie. Those who opposed the 2006 laws that were passed, now are seizing the moment to push forward on changing those laws into a regulated form of online gambling.
This in turn has many players watching those events as they unfold like a hawk, and are preparing themselves for a return to the US market and PayPal is no exception to this, as they already went ahead, and started processing again for several European players like William Hill Bingo, and Ladbrokes Casino.
To make a long story short, since a few days William Hill Bingo and William Hill casino have started accepting and processing transactions through PayPal again, which has to be a welcome addition to their already considerable arsenal of funding options, as PayPal is still the most used ewallet system worldwide.
It may not be long until all the UK Bingo web sites will be able to service US citizens again as well.
In any case we will follow the developments closely and shall report the news right here, so stay tuned!
